How to get the dreaded Myanmar Tourist Visa from Kuala Lumpar.

Well... The long and complicated process that does not have enough written about on the internet!

What you need:
  • 2 passport pictures of you
  • A photocopy of your passport (just details page)
  • PRINTED flight itinerary showing your flights in and out of the country (having them on an electronic device will not do, must be printed)
  • Application form (available when you arrive, only a page long)
  • 140 MYR in local currency
Where to go?
Do not, I repeat DO NOT, make the long trek to the Myanmar embassy as I did. I was then told when I finally got there that they have in fact outsourced the visas to a location next door to my hostel! The number one hostelbookers accommodation, Reggae Mansion, is actually a minute walk from the new destination.

As of October 2013, the new location is 'Ever Fine Travel and Tour' with the nearest MRT station being 'Masjid Jamek'. The address is: 19-21 M-Floor, Jalan Tun Perak 50000. You can e-mail them at inquiry.everfine@gmail.com.

When you get out of the train station, just go near the HSBC and its on the top floor of a hotel. Just ask around and somebody will be able to point you there.

How long will it take?
I was under the impression it would take at least 2 working days to do my visa and that this was the fastest they could do it. However, that was under the old method. These days it is done within the day. I submitted my application at 10:30am and I had it back by 5:30pm in the evening.

The process can be long and stressful if, like me, you're not used to booking in advance and flight prices are wildly fluctuating. But hopefully it'll all be worth it! I'll update when I've done visiting there to let ya'll know.
