Plan for Machu Picchu without the Inca Trail.

Although the Inca Trail looks phenomenal, it is way out of our price range due to limited spaces every year, so around £600. Machu Picchu itself has a limit of 2000 visitors a day too that often sell out and so you are advised to book in advance. Also means they too can hike up the prices! Boooo.

Provisional date: Tuesday 21st July 2015
Perurail Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu:
- $60, depart 6:10am, arrive 7:40am.
- $72 to get back, depart 4:22pm, arrive 6:10pm.
Overall: $132 = £90

Inca-rail: Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu:
- $60, depart 7:20am, arrive 8:48am
- $61, depart 4:12pm, arrive 5:50pm
Overall: $121 = £82

Note, Ollantaytambo has some ruins of its own, take a collectivo from Calle Pavitos in Cuzco, 15 soles (£3.20) each, stay there a night then get the train to Machu Picchu. So much cheaper then going straight from Cuzco!
