How to keep your large rucksack under 8kg and still be fully prepared!

Note: This list is for South America, very different to what I packed for South East Asia, I shall post that list in the future. 

Clothes
- 2 thermal vests (one black, one white)
- 1 thermal leggings 
- 1 micro fleece 
- 1 hoody
- 1 warm but more fashionable jumper
- 2 dresses (one for day and night, and one for more nighttime)
- 7 t-shirts
- 2 pair of light-weight shorts (no denim)
- 1 pair of jeans
- 1 pair of travel trousers (I chose Nike sports leggings)
- 14 pairs of underwear
- 3 bras 
- 6 pairs of socks
- 1 bikini
- 1 pair of trainers
- 1 pair of flip flops
- 1 pair of more 'presentable shoes' (I chose £4 primary flats...)

Miscellaneous 
- Sun tan lotion
- Mosquito repellent
- Chargers
- International travel adapter (even in a hostel there's 3 different plug types! Be prepared for them all)
- Wash bag
- Go pro accessories
- First aid kit

Day Pack (Not included in the 8kg)
- Sleeping bag liner
- Go pro, DSLR and compact camera (sports, scenery & last one is cheap to take out clubbing) - spare battery for each camera
- Notebook and pen
- iPad and SD card adapter
- Kindle
- Earplugs/ eye mask 
- Rubbish mobile phone
- Rubbish old iPod and headphones
- Raincoat
- Hairbrush
- Documents folder
- Pack of cards
- Essential make up items (including lip balm for strong air conditioning!)
